cant kill this plant/weed?

imagecant kill this plant or weed not sure what it is??. I dug deep and tried to get all the roots and its still coming.. large roots then turns into long skinny roots.. red stem and grows very large and fast  .. help

    Looks very like Japanese Knotweed. I do hope I'm wrong.

    That's why I wanted a side view ... that angularity of growth is best seen side on.  image

    Injecting weedkiller directly into the lower stem is the only way. I saw a council employee doing that self-same thing in Carmarthen on Wednesday.
