Snaking queen Victoria lobelia

Afternoon all.

Does anyone have queen Victoria lobelia in their garden that has grown hugely but is snaking and curving all over?.

Mine is in a large pot and is about 4ft but has bent around wildly! Would it do better in the ground?

Thanks in advance for advice ????

I have tried to post a pic but for some reason I don't seem able to.

    Mine are all bendy as well.  I have a Lobelia  Russian Princess (in a pot to deter slugs)  I think they grow so tall they really need really staking, the stems are quite fleshy.
