I planted asters from seed. They have grown very tall and thick but there are no flower heads. Should I have pinched them out or will they form flowers in time

I'm sure flowers will come. I think the weather may be part of the problem. Myself and several other here have big cosmos plants with no sign of flowers yet and they're usually flowering by sometime in June.
Asters do flower later in the season, so something to look forward to in a few weeks
If you feel they are too tall, then pinch the tops, but it may delay the first flowers a little
