Identifying a plant
Hi everyone,
first tome poster and first time gardener here!
I have no idea where to start as I've never gardened before but I am enjoying it and dont want to ruin my garden so looking for lots of advice!
I'm hoping someone could help me identify a plant that is popping up all over the place in my garden.
It's not bad to look at but 3 have popped up and I was hoping to use that spot to plant something colourful and I'm worried its going to take over!
I'm in ayrshire, scotland (if that makes a difference)
Moved into my house in november so giving the garden a chance to show me what it's got before I start anything major.
Thank you in advance!

Forgot to add it had reddish stalks going into the ground
You are so sensible waiting to see what you have before you start doing anything.Has the look of a Primula sp.
Maybe a Candelabra Primula that loves moist soil.
The common name for many different sp that grow like this.
Beautiful flowers in the spring...seeds around.

Thank you. That makes a lot of sense as that side of the garden has terrible drainage and I do remember there were some lovely flowers there a few months ago. I'll be leaving them alone then as they are very pretty when in bloom
Need to wait until the house refurb is finished before we get any sort of major work on the garden done, a lot of moss growing on one side due to how damp it is and the other side is very dry.
Thanks for the reply!
looking back on old pictures I found this! This is the same plant in March
Primula denticulata - they do get rather huge by the tail end of summer.
Now would be a really good time to lift and divide your primulas ... you'll end up with loads more flowers next spring.

Hi Shelley. Nice to have someone else from Ayrshire. Helps to increase the Scottish contingent
