ID and rotting fruit!

hi everyone,

we have a nice tree in the garden and its produced some fruit. Can anyone help give an ID and maybe tell us why the fruit is getting spots and eventually rotting on the tree (those that haven't fallen on the ground yet!!)

thanks in advance!

It looks like a Crab Apple to me - possibly John Downie from the shape of the fruits - but its a little difficult to judge the size. I'm not sure about whats caused the problem but wasps can be one suspect.

Another case of Scab. Even Crab apples get it.
