What do Chilli plants need more, direct sunlight or heat in order to grow?
When I moved into my house the previous owner left his greenhouse. In spring and early summer the greenhouse gets plenty of sunlight. But in late summer and autumn it's more in shade, till late afternoon, due to the sun dropping in the sky and nearby neighbours trees.

You may be in luck then. As with most plants they need sun to grow & make food (photosynthesise)., but heat to ripen the fruit. They do need a long growing season so start them off as early as you can.
