Can anyone help identify this mystery plant. It has appeared in the same place for the last two years.

Yes, and POISONOUS!, where do you live, they arent particularly hardy!  I have never managed to keep one, never mind get them to that size?

They're annuals. I think they arrived here in a bag of compost. Some years ago they suddenly appeared in lots of my pots of seedlings, Never been here previously.

  • It appeared on a five acre plot of land which has been owned (originally as a rabbit farm)  by a friend for many years. This is in Lincolnshire. It appeared last year and again this year in the same place. Apart from nettles being strimmed occasionally the ground is uncultivated. I assume that the first appearance was a bird delivered seed and the second self sown. I have never seen one before let alone locally.

    Many thanks for the identification.
