I tried nematodes this year for the first time but I didnt notice any difference whats so ever I may give them a second try next year but it quite expensive. I used to collect them and put them in the bin until I realised how easy they can get back out. I lose my temper with them further on in the year and start chopping them up and stamping on them. I can rarely direct sow any veg the slugs get them all the time.
I use them wool pellets they work but dont last long enough
I try to cover susceptible plants in wool pellets until they have made enough growth in the Spring, particularly the alsotromeria's, after that it's night time patrols with the salt and crunching the snails. This year hasn't been too bad thankfully but the last 2 weeks of rain has brought them all out of hiding.

Perki, try a beer trap, reduces damage by distraction... I'm using a half buried milk bottle bottom
I used beer traps in the past but not as effective as going out with a torch and a pair of secateurs.
I use beer traps because I can't bear killing anything. I think of the beer traps as assisted suicide.

josusa47 the slug beer home brew works, and it's good fruit fly bait too...
