When is the best time to move lavender plants?
I need to tidy up a flower bed and move some lavender plants to another part of the garden. When is the best time to do this?
Also this lavender at the front of the house, I'm guessing I can't cut it back too hard. My friend has lavender and would rather get rid of it but I'm wondering how hard I can cut it back and when? End of flowering and again in the spring if memory serves me right. But then again as you can't cut back into old wood I'm not sure how much I can cut it back.
Any advice gratefully received.
Thank you.

Regarding moving of plants, it's generally better in autumn and spring, but there is no problem moving plants in the summer time, but you will need to be mindful about plants settling into the soil in possible heat, which tends to mean, lots of watering and checking once planted in the new area.
The pictures of the lavenders look lovely, when it's planted en-masse like that, most people will leave them like that and let it carry over the winter time through to spring, but you can cut the tops off anytime if you wish. You can cut into the bushier sections to stop them growing too tall. They will recover.

I normally shear mine in the autumn taking off the flower stalks and about an inch or so off the growing tips.
