Ceanothus (Calafornia Lilac

I have 3 Ceanothus in my garden, planted 2 years ago but now are getting a bit big. Can I trim them back, if so how hard & when? I look forward to some advice.

    As with any shrub, best pruned back immediately after flowering finishes as long as they flower in spring or early summer.  If they flower later, then prune in spring.

    Don't cut them too far Back. They can be a bit temperamental.

    I cut back after flowering.  It's probably OK to do it now as long as the pruning is not too severe.

    Based in Sussex, I garden to encourage as many birds to my garden as possible.
