V.large Acer to move. Sentimental. Is it possible?
Hi there,
I am brand new to the site so wanted to say Hi first and thanks in advance for your help and feedback.
My mum is moving house in September and has a very large Acer at the back of her small garden. It is very sentimental value and she would love for me to transplant it to my house 5 miles away. I love acers and have lots of small ones and will be creating a Japanese garden with stream this year so would love to find a way and home for it. So the big question is how possible and successful do you think we could be?
I have attached 2 photots one of the pot that it was once in 10+ years ago and one showing how a climbing rose or something has completely smothered it. Not sure what Acer variety it is either.
Is it worth trying or are we set to fail?
Your help is very much appreciated.
Thanks

my honest opinion.?
" not a hope in hell"
Leave it for someone else to love. How would you feel if you killed it?
I'd have to agree with Hosta it's way too mature to consider moving.
Buy Mum a new one for her new home.
Acer Katsura is one of my favourites, it's lovely and changes colour throughout the seasons

Thanks guys for the feedback, shame but sometimes it isn't meant to be.
