Victoria plums

When should I pick Victoria plums? I have a plum tree with a few plums that are fully coloured red and soft to squeeze. Is it to early to pick them?

They come off easily in the hand when ripe. Be careful, because the wasps always know the day before you will. Try one and see.

  • If they are soft then they are ripe.

Thanks, I've noticed a few plums with wasp bums sticking out!

Pick one, check for wasps then bite into it. You will know if its ready :)

I picked mine last week. I noticed some had fallen of the tree so I picked them all

Because I don't spray mine, I get some trouble with pink wigglers from plum moth. The infected ones ripen first. I tend to cut them all in half before consuming just to check.
