Pruning a Spiraea douglasii?

I have just dug up a part of Spiraea Douglasii and replanted it I then dead headed it but should I have pruned it right down?

I would prune it down to reduce transpirational loss of water. Make sure you water it regularly for the rest of the summer.
To about 6" from the ground?

6" sounds about right JPO1 ; it will soon recover . Can sometimes be a bit invasive too .
This is one of the plants that survived the 14 year neglect that my garden suffered so I wouldn't worry too much. It's a survivor this plant.

I think I'll leave as is, water regularly and keep an eye on it. If it shows any stress I'll cut it all right down.
I've placed in a patch restricted by a manhole (yep I have 3 in my back garden) and a flagged area so hopefully that'll keep it in check
