Cordless Strimmer
Purchased a cordless strimmer yesterday from Screwfix in the sale at £35, used it today and for small lawns one of the best strimmers I ever used. Obvious problem the battery running out , so thought get another battery.
Shocked to find the cost of a spare 18v li-ion 2ah battery is £43 lol.
Am I looking in the wrong place or is this a general theme when looking to get a spare battery? If so will be ordering another strimmer whilst in the sale pronto.

Spare batteries often do seem to cost stupid prices. A guy I worked with bought a cordless mower because it seems like a bargain - all that was missing was the battery! Once he'd added the cost of the battery to the mower (he bought it without checking the cost of the battery) it was actually dearer than the mower with battery!!
Seen Bosch cordless mowers for sale on ebay without battery.....same thing there!! Reminds me of the all singing and dancing printer/scanner etc which was sold at give away price, ink lasted 5 minutes...new cartridges about £60.
Some brands and models are like buying an inkjet printer. The machines are sold at minimal or near to cost price but the consumables are rather expensive in order for the manufacturer to make a profit.
Is the strimmer line standard cord in a reel or one of the fancy multi-lined, bespoke fittings that snap off quickly and need a replacement head when the cord runs out?
Hi Dave
The strimmer line is single standard cord and having used for couple hours today hasn't snapped once and is auto feed. Excellent strimmer, have decided to order another whilst on offer so got spare battery and charger, plus spare cord,........... http://www.screwfix.com/p/mgtp18li-18v-2-0ah-li-ion-cordless-grass-trimmer/5071r
I've just ordered one to do the boundary outside our property. Will beat climbing a bank with the extension lead and having to throw it over the 6'ft fence. Out of interest, approx how long did the battery last?
Lasted about 45 minutes and takes 1 hour to full charge
I have a cordless strimmer and hedge trimmer both the same make so the batteries fit both. Works well for me.
