Rhubarb

Just a bit curious really, we have a Rhubarb plant that was planted a good few months ago!

It is now vey tall with large leaves, bigger than a dinner plate.

What I need to know is that I have read that you shouldn't use the stalks for the first year, but what do I do with the current stalks?

Do I pick them? Can we use them?

Many thanks

Leave them alone ... they'll die down in the autumn and the goodness in them will be absorbed into the crown to provide lots of energy to grow your rhubarb next year. image

Mine is huge at the moment but despite it being several years old now, I've not picked any since June ... I never do ... that way the crown builds up nicely.
