Danielletel, your Aloe looks fine. We are lucky enough to be able to grow them inside or outside here and they reproduce at the base of the plant, so we get new plants most years. They also flower outside, usually when 20 or 30 years old, but then they die off and we start again with one of the babies that the mother plant has produced.
I usually repot the plants into larger pots when either the pot bursts/breaks apart or when the roots are showing through the bottom of the pot. So if your plant's roots are pushing through the bottom of the pot then it is time to repot. Having said that I would only do this in the Spring or early summer because the plants don't do well if disturbed in the winter.
If you have a greenhouse you could keep your plant in there during the summer, and if your greenhouse is heated I would think you could keep it in there during the winter, but not if the greenhouse temperature drops to below freezing in the night time.
Thank you for the tips Guernsey Donkey2! I wasn't quite sure when to repot so this was a great help thank you! My country is almost always on the cold side even in summer and super rainy so I am quite afraid of putting my aloe outside even for a short while but if I invest in a greenhouse I will keep this in mind so thank you
My aloe has never reproduced a baby plant probably because it had deteriorated for a quite a while before I took it but I'm hoping it does, possibly next year!
I have two vicious Aloes (A.ferox & A.marlothii) in my greenhouse ; they stay all winter ,growing in a very gravelly mix of granite chippings (for stability) , sandy grit and a very small percentage of ericaceous compost .
I struggle to water them enough during the summer , they grow rapidly and are fed very regularly . They stay dry throughout the entire winter (November - March) and seem to tolerate any temperature and sunshine the UK climate can 'throw at them' .
