Unknown baby bird of prey

I work on a country estate as a gardener, they are very wildlife friendly and encourage most...not squirrels though!

I just discovered this bird in the hedgerow, uninjured but too small to be out alone really, wondered if anyone has any idea as to what it is? My thoughts are sparrow hawk or buzzed. Any other ideas? Most welcome! Thank you all!

Cor! Thanks Pdoc, I'll check it out. image

  • Agree with Punkdoc. From the picture 1, the wing markings look like a kestrel.

The parents should still be feeding it - no need to intervene.

I'd read you had a new job but Iwas away for a while and missed the details. Well done you on landing a plum! They're lucky to have you. (Do they know about your own garden transformation?). I hope you had pics on your cv.

Wonky sent me another photo ... he looks quite chipper this morning ... she has to go past him but is keeping out of the way as much as possible
