Lawn weeds
Hi, I have a large 'lawn' area in my garden, approx 1/3 acre, but it has been uncultivated for so long and just wants to be a field. It does contain grass, but is mainly every type of weed imaginable and I am at a loss of how to tackle it. Because of the size of the area, reseeding isn't an option so it is going to have to be a weed killer I'm afraid, but I will need so much! Has anyone had to tackle an area like this and advise me as to what to use and how/when to begin? Thanks

Try mowing it every three or four days. That will keep most weeds down. Then decide whether you want it green space with lawn weeds in, or a pristine patch that you need to spend a lot of money on for weed and feed.
Hiya, I'm more than happy to live with some weed but I would like the grass to have some sort of majority, at the moment the weeds have the upper hand!
Two litres of Weedol will be enough to treat 1/3 of an acre. I've found it effective on thistles, dandelions, nettles etc.
Mowing alone will be sufficient to suppress most of the weeds and favour the grass. No weedkiller required. Over time the taller weeds and tussocky grasses will die out and the more turf-forming grasses will take over. Just remove and compost the cuttings. It won't need a great frequency of mowing.
If you do plan on a weed killer approach, 3rd of an acre isn't really that difficult or expensive to do with basic equipment and decent weedkiller (not the stuff brought from a DIY store). PM me if you need advice.
