Grass shears
Thank you to all the people who responded to my previous post. You recommended Bahco, Wilkinson and Fiskars, I have been to all three websites and none of them have what I want. All their grass shears are either long-handled or single handed, both of which I've tried and couldn't get on with. I want what my dear departed dad used, two handles and you kneel to use them, to go round the edges where the mower can't get. Spear and Jackson do a pair, they're £14 which seems cheap to me, but I think they're a reputable make, aren't they? Other makers offer what looks like what I want, but they're described as hedge shears. Would they be any good on grass?

I bought some in Ho..ba.. for around £8 and they are working just fine on grass, shrubby bits and scrubby bits!
I've had a pair of Spear and Jackson ones for umpteen canteen years so they do last long. Go for them!
I suspect the OP has been looking at edging shears if they all have long handles. Every manufacturer makes standard garden shears.
Thanks for your help, everyone. S& J it shall be, then.
