greenhouse floor calamity

I'm currently renovating an old but basically sound greenhouse but it has a badly cracked and breaking concrete floor, there are large trees not far away.  Removal is not really an option.  Should I attempt to repair or cover with another material? image

    Hi cookycow,

You could try some self-levelling flooring compound .... and if it's still a bit too uneven, then you could cover with granite chips or gravel.

If you suspect it's being caused by tree roots just covering it over may only fix it for a year or so.  Has it lifted up or is it just cracking?  If it was fitted professionally then it's probably closer to screed than concrete, which usually has a lot more sand and is more crack prone as a consequence.

If it's lifted and if you can manage it, I'd be inclined to chip away the broken bit first and see what's causing it to lift and whether you can remove some of it (e.g. cut away part of the root).

You should then be able to pour new concrete over the top and level it out and that should repair any cracks (or just go straight to this if it hasn't lifted).
