I have found that they have been eating less in the last few weeks.I'm not sure if it's because they are finding plenty of worms etc. with all the rain we've been having, or my hedgehog street work has been paying off and more people are feeding them. To be honest as long as they are around, that makes me happy, but l know what you are saying Bobby.
We feed ours cat biscuits (obviously with water) but only every third night or so in the hope of avoiding dependence on us. Very occasionally we add a little mealworm to keep up its interest in coming back.
Sounds great to me, every help is valued. Keep an eye out for babies & autumn juveniles that will need fattening up or taken into rescues by October/November if they weigh under 500/600g folks
This thread is an eye-opener for me! Thought mealworms were full of protein so had been putting plenty out for the hogs. After reading these comments I did a bit of research and see mealworms can cause metabolic bone disease https://www.hedgehogstreet.org/forums/topic/what-to-feed-hedgehogs-the-danger-of-too-many-mealworms/. Will now just be sticking to cat or dog meat and cat biscuits. Thanks guys
I used to think the same Claire before I closely followed my local rescues Facebook updates, some very interesting findings! I'm still very much learning too! If any of you are interested, search for Hedgehog Bottom - some really great posts.

Peak of Summer and the recent rain has probably encouraged out a lot of worms indeed.
