Breeze Block Planters

I am going to render my a newly built breeze block trough planter but not sure if I need to line it to stop the moisture coming through.
Some say yes because the moisture will affect the render and it will come off, some say no.

Breeze blocks are highly permeable and render is likely to be permeable also so any attempt to line it is futile as it'll just absorb moisture from the other three sides and between the lining. I personally would not bother to line it.
