Heated propagator
Hi all,
I've been looking on amazon but if anyone can recommend a really good heated propagator whose heater is reliable that would be great.
Also some suitable feeds for cuttings and advice on when / how often to feed would be great. Plus any other pointers re: propagation in general as I want to start raising cuttings - new to this....
Thanks in advance.

I bought a Vitopod propagator beginning of this year and am very pleased with it. I raised most of my plants in it this year. I have the double height one
I know some others on this forum have them too.

A case of you get what you pay for is it?
They seem very pricey and I wondered if there was a cheaper alternative. I'm guessing they're more reliable than the cheaper fixed temp thermostat ones.
I also bought this lot which makes a very good propagator and I think was a little cheaper too.
So I use the Vitopod to germinate, then move them on to the set up below.

You could just use the tray and the heated mat

Would love to recommend mine, bought from Dobies, but it's over 25 years old and they don't make them any more! Still used every year for seeds and cuttings, though it has got a new homemade lid with a bubblewrap cover

I have a Stewart one which is several years old and works very well for me.
And cuttings don't need feeding until they've been potted on a couple of times and even then not until they've exhausted the feed in the compost.
What sort of cuttings are you taking and what sort of compost are you planning to use ... just out of interest

What are you going to use the propagator for? How many cuttings are you going to take? Do you already have a greenhouse and/or a cold frame? Are you going to use it for sowing seeds as well?
Depending on the answers to the above questions, will depend on your choice of propagator.
I started off with a Stewart electric propagator which is the size of a normal seed tray. Sowed seeds into 3 inch pots and put them in until they germinated. I then moved up to a heated soil bed in the greenhouse which is about 3ft by 2 ft. That was about 15 years ago and quite sufficient for my needs.
Lots of cuttings, if not all, will root without bottom heat.
