Moving established roses
I need to move five established rose bushes from a front border to the rear garden but don't know when is the best time to do this.
I would be grateful for any advice please.

Ideally wait a couple of months till autumn, depending on how quickly you need to move the, or spring, prune, move feed.
If they are very establish, you can move them in the autumn time perferably when the soil is damp. Cut the top growth off so it's nice and easy to handle. Prepare the holes in your rear garden in advance and mix in good compost at the base areas.
Using spade or garden fork, cut into the soil around the edge of the roses and dig very deep. Being it is an established rose, the roots may be quite big. Don't worry if you damage some of the roots, the plant is going into dormant stage very soon and will not affect it much. The ideal situation is to take as much of the soil with the dig and transplant it into the new area. Make sure all the surrounding areas are backfilled with more compost of good crumbly garden soil. Water in well, and then fill in further soil as sometimes, it reveals air pockets.
Thank you both for the information. Very much appreciated.
