Nitrogen

We had to improve our soil so we covered our raised beds with a layer of rotted horse manure from the garden centre last Autumn and upon reflection we had runner beans that produced more leaves than beans. We failed to measure the ph level before we planted.

The PH level is nothing to do with the nitrogen content of the soil.

If  you believe your soil to be high in nitrogen at the moment I'd utilise it by growing leafy vegetables, lettuce, chard, spinach, cabbage, broccoli etc.
