Tree/fruit identification

Does anyone know what tree this is and if the cherry like berries are edible image

    Looks like a cherry plum (Prunus cerasifera.)  All plums are edible but some taste nicer than others.  Give one a try.

    A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

    Oh wow, amother plum. I wasn't sure if they were edible. Will give one a try.

    Greengage jam is the food of the gods ........ have some on croissants for Sunday breakfast with good coffee and some nice French music on the radio (we play a Charles Trenet cd  - especially his Extraordinary Garden)  ...... nearly as good as a holiday image
