Can you tell me?

I have 2-3 of these plants in my garden but, I've not been able to identify them, these are just cuttings but the original bush is about 3ft tall by about the same,can you help?

Oh, and they smell like aniseed.

    It's a hypericum. Maybe Hypericum androsaemum at that height. How big were the flowers, this one has smaller flowers than some of the garden species which are more showy. Never noticed the smell on any of them

    Looks like hypericum to me.  St John's Wort.   There are several forms.  Here's what the RHS has to say - RHS+hypericum+cultivation
