Indeed it is, @1634 Racine and it is searching for a mate, which is why it is climbing ip that leaf to release pheremones.  Great shot. :)
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

I‘m a bit annoyed actually Bob.  Leaf is in perfect focus and beetle is out of focus.  Looks fierce though.  Here’s another angle - also out of focus!

I love the way they 'play dead' if you accidentally disturb them!  Have you seen one flying?  Having one fly near you in near darkness is a bit scary!

I haven’t seen them flying and I hope not to!

This handsome guy is enjoying my terrace this morning. Such a striking metallic green.
Marne la vallée, basically just outside Paris 🇫🇷, but definitely Scottish at heart.

Nice shot of Cetonia aurata, the rose chafer. Not sure it's enjoying your terrace, but no doubt it's enjoying feasting on your flowers. ;) By the way, which flowers are those?

There's fairy moths in my garden :o  They're supposed to be fairly common but I'm very pleased nonetheless. I'm hoping they'll stick around until the sun is less bright and the breeze dies down so I can get some better pics. Adela reaumurella, the Green Longhorn Moth. Called longhorn for obvious reasons.

If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
