Cuttings advice

I have one more chance to take cuttings from our childhood garden. I want to take lots, as I won't be able to go back. I had planned to take lots of little pots of gritty compost but tbh that's going to be awkward and I'm not convinced the cuttings will be particularly happy being carted home on the bus - might end up having to redo them. So would it be better to put them in sealed plastic bags to bring home, then pot immediately? It'll take me about half an hour to get back.
I know it's not the right time of year to do some of them, but I have had success before and it has to be done now. There are fuchsias, a willow, roses, cotinus and maybe a peony (is it possible to take peony cuttings? Advice on that would be welcome).

should be fine kept in a sealed plastic bag. Maybe take longer cuttings than you need and trim them when you get home to your pots that are ready to root your childhood memories

Thank you, I will do that. Fingers crossed.
You can't take cuttings from herbaceous peonies ... you could try splitting the clump ...

Thanks Dove. I left the peony. If I get a chance over the weekend I'll go and dig it up (don't worry, not going to be a problem with the new owners), otherwise I will just leave it. Did loads of cuttings, now all in pots - hopefully some will take.
