Having tried (and failed) with the only easily-available peat-free compost last year (New Horizon, which had the consistency of hoover bag contents and in which just about everything I planted failed to grow....), are there any recommendations for a good-quality but sensibly-priced and easily-sourced peat-free please?
Some old folk get upset Montie keeps asking them to use peat free.
Thankfully like the dinosaurs they will be extinct eventually and nobody
will use peat no more. It just takes time.
@amancalledgeorge - George, there are a lot of members of this forum, old and young, who are dedicated to peat composts. The habit does not seem to be dying any time soon, unfortunately.

I don't know about Homebase (they closed both of the branches that I could easily get to, so I don't buy from them any more).
