Nanny are you sure they are selling 16 year olds? I've never seen any in my garden centre. Not sure that's legal either, and what would you do with one? No use in the garden, I suspect.

I would look at gardenia.net for inspiration.

Very good simple ideas. When you have an idea of what you want, you can look at the plants And whether to buy or grow from seed and how to do that.

each year you will be able to add and improve, it's not going to happen in one step overnight so don't worry about mistake or things not working out at from the beginning.

    and enjoy the journey!

Nanny Beach, there's a shop near me where you can, according to a sign in the window,. "Watch batteries and straps fitted." You'd have to be very short of entertainment, wouldn't you?

  • Thank you everyone ! when i go to the garden centre im always thinking will it last .will i be wasting my money once again! i havent tested my soil yet but someone said i had good soil! im south east .Front of my house always very sunny and the back garden is sunny and shady prob more sunny in afternoon in the garden .going to focus on shrubs and perennials any suggestion on a few to try and where  should I plant them shrubs  back /middle of boarder ?.there is a lot to choose from but I think I like the colour scheme of purple and yellow as main colours and Will add plant to fit like a red if I have red in the leaves for example. In the picture the tree shrubs last house owners planted I recently bought lavender which I put in middle of boarder unsure if that's right and there's a plant at the back that has very dark black leaves with yellow flowers i'm unsure on its name at the moment

My main advice would be if you want it this way to have something flowering from Feb/March right the way through till Oct/Nov from spring bulbs through to summer perennials and shrubs as the main backbone during the winter to hold shape.
