Yeah... it's not so much a day as many different days. I was looking it up to see which birds enjoy eating them and saw lots of [British] news outlets going with the "how to get rid of them" angle, although every one later mentioned how the ants are both harmless and good for the garden. I don't think there is a US vs UK thing in wanting to kill what's outside. It depends on the sites you go to. UK way ahead in the idea of peat as a non-renewable resource [except over thousands of years.] but still plenty of UK sites about killing pests/weeds etc. Especially lawn sites.
In the US, it was "killer bees are coming" from South America. Here it seems to be those caterpillars and hornets. Although I saw a great Daily Mail full page story about "Beavers running riot on our rivers" or something like that.

Not seen any flying ants here yet. But the horse flies are particularly vicious just now .
