Help with identification

Hello all,

I'm a novice gardener and bought a lovely plant for my possibly south facing garden. But it's dying and I don't know why or what it is :-(

Please can you help!?!

Many thanks Sam

I am sorry, but from that photo, all I can tell you, is that it is dead.

Afraid I've no idea ... I mean I think it may be a 'compositae' type .... but which .... without flowers or leaves .... but I bet someone comes up with some good suggestions ....

What did it look like? It may have been an annual. I'd collect the seeds from the seed heads and plant them early next year and hope they come up.

It's probably had it, but the stems are still green. If you want to try and bring it back, cut it down to about 3ins, put it somewhere out of the sun and don't let the compost dry out. It may resurrect itself, but don't bank on it
