Plant ID please
Hi all,
Anyone recognise this plant?
it produces these orange flowers at the beginning of July.
Should it be where it is? It surrounds the base of an apple tree, we have 2 apple trees and this one definitely doesn't look healthy compared to our other.
Could these plants be taking water from the tree?

Crocosmia ! Smallish corms which I wouldn't think might affect the tree . More likely the mistletoe is affecting the tree badly , it's a parasite .

the tree looks as if a large branch has fallen off at some point, or maybe the bark damage was caused by something else. That is the problem. Missing bark is where rot sets in and also interferes with the passage of water/nutrients up and down the tree. I don't think crocosmia or mistletoe are to blame. It's not in the interest of a parasite to kill its host. Neither crocosmia nor mistletoe damage bark like that.

The affects of Crocosmia are negligible ; like nut says ; the severe damage to the tree + parasitic mistletoe are not particularly beneficial .
