My gooseberry's are turning a relish colour ?does this mean they are ready ? Or do I still have a while until they are ready ??

Taste one - if you like it, they are ready! Gooseberries get sweeter as they ripen and the red type are ready from when they start turning colour but won't be as sweet as when they are fully red. It's down to personal taste when you pick them.
If you want them for jam they're better slightly under-ripe.

Some varieties turn reddish as they ripen, some turn a lovely golden colour - do you know which variety you are growing?
