Gooseberry's

My gooseberry's are turning a relish colour ?does this mean they are ready ? Or do I still have a while until they are ready ??image

    Taste one - if you like it, they are ready!  Gooseberries get sweeter as they ripen and the red type are ready from when they start turning colour but won't be as sweet as when they are fully red.  It's down to personal taste when you pick them. image

    If you want them for jam they're better slightly under-ripe.

    Some varieties  turn reddish as they ripen, some turn a lovely golden colour - do you know which variety you are growing?

  • Sorry I don't know the variety:( but they are turning a browny,relish colour :) i've tasted some and they are still quite sour !the seeds are quite sweet though!! Hope perhaps haha
