These are clearly different - compare the stigma shape in the two flowers: relatively stout and curled back in homebird's, relatively thin and not curled back in Pete8's. You can enlarge the photos by right-clicking and choosing 'view image'. Pete8's 1st photo also shows the conical shape of Heliopsis well (flat disc in Helianthus).

I note that mine have serrated leaves

I think you're right.
Heliposis leaves are smooth, serrated and somewhat glossy.
Most sunflowers have slightly hairy leaves, which yours seems to have too.
