Hanging basket shade and freezing in winter
Hi - finally the garden is coming together :O) Small newbuild garden with a very large shed which I look out on from kitchen window. I would like a hanging basket on the shed wall but while I think it may survive in summer (with a fuschia or something as it will get little in the way of direct sunshine) I am not sure what might survive there in winter as it will get the full blast of the Airsource Heat Pump .. For anyone who doesn't know anything about ASHP I actually believe that they will contribute to global cooling! :O) When it is running it is ARCTIC and blasts freezing air straight at the shed. The shed in winter gets covered in tiny dead flies which I assume get caught in its icy blast, crash into the shed and freeze to death. :O(
I saw some baskets online that were full of different heucheras but when I did a bit of research I guess to get them looking like that I would have to keep dividing and just planting the younger plants? Then what do I do with all the plants left over? Give them to the charity shop maybe ! I do like pansies/violas but not sure they will take the arctic conditions. Any ideas? I am open to a permanent basket planting or seasonal. Thanks
