Fig tree pruning

i have a fig tree with some fruiting branches, however one or two branches have no fruit do I cut these down or will they fruit next year

The shoots should have been pinched out to leave four or five leaves, before midsummer's day. Next year's figs will form and overwinter in the leaf axcils. They will be small/tiny.
