Bind weed
Desperately in need of advice to get rid of these for good as these are getting worse every year and as I am getting older these are harder to try and pull out and they are strangling my camelia and azalea and hydrangeas.

Well normally you get told to dig all the bits of root out, which is not possible when they are snuggling up to bushes.
RHS has this advice
Where the weed has started to twine into plants it is possible to carefully untwine the stems and lay them on bare ground before spraying the foliage. Alternatively, in spring, insert vertical bamboo canes close to the weed to encourage it to grow up the canes rather than smother plants. The stems can then either be left on the cane and carefully spot-treated with glyphosate (Scotts Roundup Gel) or untwined and laid on the bare soil or an adjacent pathway before being sprayed
Hand weeding can be tough, especially if you have plenty of other established plants around. You can treat with Glyphosate or stronger formulas like Bayer Garden Rootkill. Paint the leaves carefully on a nice dry day and wait for it to work its way though to the root. Obviously be careful with doing this. It can take up to 2 weeks to work, and repeat treatment may be needed.
