Nephrolepsis fern ailing

B3B3 Posts: 27,505

To the casual observer, my very large nephrolepsis, Bob, is doing ok. But those of us who know him better know that he's not well.

Old fronds are getting longer -some are about 4ft (he doesn't do metric) but there is very little new growth on top -  a bit like my OH.

The trouble started after I'd given him a good soak and top dressing  in the spring. He's been sulking ever since.

I have started misting - never bothered before but I wondered if a high nitrogen feed would do any good.

Any advice would be appreciated as we would hate to lose an old friend.

In London. Keen but lazy.

Does your Boston fern need a larger pot or dividing ? At least if you lose the original plant his memory will live on in newer smaller plants .

No and no. It's in a very large pot with plenty of room. Was repotted last year.

Was doing fine until a couple of months ago.
