Ceanothus not flowering
I have a number of evergreen Ceanothus bushes in our front garden that flowered well last year.
I pruned them after flowering July or August last year, reduced them by a third.
This year I have no flowers??
They all look healthy plants and are planted in clay soil that was well dug over nearly 3 years ago when originally planted and stand about 6.5ft tall.
Any advice would be appreciated

I don't know the shape or the type of Ceanothus. Generally, they do not respond too well if you have pruned the thicker branches. When pruning, look for the finer and smaller branches to prune. If you have simply reduced the general top/end growth, this could affect the possibility to produce flowers. These shrubs are tricky anyway, and are not really long lived. I don't know how old your shrub is, but they also die quite slowly and deteriote over time. If it's looking healthy and it's in plenty of sun, I'm sure next year will be a better year. Just be watchful of the pruning.
They just normally like a light trim. If your happy with the shape don't prune them at all.
I pruned mine 2 years ago, early in the year, really went to town on it. Had hardly any flowers on it last year but this year it has been beautiful, best its ever been. Not only the flowers but in growth. I shall prune it right back again late summer as its huge now, even if it means less flowers next year. Wish I had taken a photo of it to put on here. Its been in the same spot for a few years now without any special treatment other than watering. I grew it from a small cutting off my neighbours plant which is at least 11 years old. I stuck a few in a pot of peat(no rooting powder etc) and was lucky to get a few plants so I kept 1 and gave the others away. Free plants
thats my kind of gardening Good luck with yours.
As others have said, better to give Ceanothus a "light" prune.
