Clematis growing up a obelisk

Hi I'm growing clematis up a obelisk. However, I have a dog which will love weing against them???? he hates my lavender bushes. So can I grow a lavender ring at the base of the obelisks to deter him ???? thanks

Thank you, the clematis will be going into the prepared beds and lavender around the circle. What is the best size of the circle should it be for best results. Thanks again ???
