Can you identify this insect

Hi I have just caught the insect shown below in my lounge, but think it has come in from the garden... can anyone identify it for me please. Not quite sure it shows but it may have wings as it's back is very shiny but it is very lethargic and not moving much, hasn't attempted to fly (if it can). Colour brown with darker stripes and head more a greenish colour. Thank you - Tony

It looks like one of the chafers, which are species of beetle. Not sure which, possibly Garden Chafer.

It's a Cockchafer (May bug/June bug/ Billywitch)
Fascinating creatures ... I love seeing them. We get quite a few here on summer evenings, flying among the treetops.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Hi thanks for your reply will look this up..... just tried Wilkopedia also and it looks like it is a Japanese beetle. Thanks again, very curious never seen this one before. BR Tony.
Thanks both for quick replies, great to know this, looking up this name on my phone and yes think it definitely is this insect. Will let it free in the garden. BR Tony.
Will consider this thread closed as now sorted - thanks again.
It is also called a May bug and you will know it when it tries to fly as it makes the loudest buzz you will ever hear from such a relatively small thing - not good for anyone of a nervous disposition! They are harmless though - or at least to humans anyway
