My sweetcorn is about to start producing but several of the plants have leaves that are turning purple and the silk on the first cob is a red purple colour. please help as I have lovingly grown a patch of 80 plants as sweetcorn is my daughter's favourite!

What type of sweetcorn did you sow?
Golden Bantam
What country are you in?
France mid west. I started them inside and they are about 7 feet tall or more
That explains why you are so far in front. I don't know what caused that brown leaf, but lower leaves tend to yellow as they reach maturity. I wouldn't worry about it. Most of them seem OK.
I staggered them over 4 or 5 weeks the small ones have no purple. It's a bit warmer here so we are all ready eating tomatoes and cucumbers but I am earlier than most as I risked putting the out a bit early and was lucky with the weather
Thank you
