Photinia

I have just bought on line 10 Photinias, some of which are very leggy/spindly.  Am I guessing correctly as with other plants, that if I nip out the growing shoots they will bush up a bit?  Many thanks.....

It depends on what shape you are looking to have on Photinas. They can be fast growing and if you are looking for a lolli-pop shape, may not be a good idea. If you are trying to build a hedge or a rounded shape, then it's perfectly fine to prune off areas that seem too spindly. Without pictures, it's hard to see how spindly and how tall they are now. Cut down to a next side shoot. If they've just arrived, plant them in and wait a bit as they need settling in. As soon as you see strong growth, you can start pruning lightly.
