Best site for asparagus?
I'm digging out my failed asparagus bed because it's constantly besieged by next door's bindweed, which is knee deep on their side. The only use these neighbours make of their garden is somewhere to keep their collection of dead cars - four at the last count. So now I have two issues: Where to grow asparagus, and what to do with the plot by the fence?
All the other neighbours are good gardeners, but if I relocate the asparagus against one of their boundaries, would it get enough sun? I've searched the forum and there are over 100 posts about asparagus. None of the first 20 told me how much sun it needs, so it's easier to ask than wade through all the posts and maybe still not find out. Can asparagus thrive in part shade?
I've realised the other plot is no use for anything that needs a permanent site, because as long as this family is there, I'll always be digging out bindweed. One option I'm considering is to bring it into a four year veg rotation with the three raised beds I've just built, but I'd welcome suggestions. It faces west.
Tomorrow I start tackling the bindweed that's growing up through the compost bin! Happy days.

Consider painting the bindweed with glyphosate gel. It should go back onto their side at least.
