Help identifying a tree
Hi,
Sorry if this has been done before but I am at a loss as to what this tree is that is in my garden. It was already here when I moved in. It produces 'fruit' every year and in the spring it has a blossom similar to the cherry tree we have.
If anyone can shed any light I would be very grateful. Having looked at the fruit part of me thinks it may be some kind of nut tree but I will leave it with the more knowledgeable amongst you!

It looks like an apricot to me. The squirrels usually ate mine at that stage to get the kernel inside, and so rarely did I get ripe apricots. The nearest nut to it would be an almond. The flowers of cherry, apricot and almond are similar.
Thanks! I'll keep an eye on it and see how the fruit ripens. We did have a cheeky squirrel but he hasn't visited for quite some time!
