Grape Vine - leave yellowing / die off

Hi all

I've two grape vines (don't know the species, but came from a wine making site) that I planted in a large pot last year.

They grew very well up a trellis and onto my fence last year, then went dormant.

This year they got off to a great start and were very green and bushy, even started to see some grapes!

However, in the last few weeks, the leaves nearest the bottom started turning yellow and falling off. This issue has gradually moved up the vine and the bottom / middle are now basically bare.

The vine is still growing quite quickly and the new leaves look normal. Some of the existing grapes are also getting bigger.

I've read up, but can't seem to identify the issue or what to do about it. Closest match seems to be 'P' deficiency, but I don't want to start putting chemicals on without being sure. I can't see any insect or pest problems, just this yellowing and die off.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks v much!

Dan

Could the vine be thirsty?  Mine is in the ground and I've been giving it quite a bit of water this summer.

    See original post

I've been watering it weekly, soaking through until water pours out the bottom of the pot, so I don't think it's dry?
