I'd love to see some before and after pics...your story reminded me of my garden, slabs everywhere, foundations for goodness knows what and everywhere I dug a pile of rubble.
Am imagining digging up a patio to find another one underneath!
We had lots of humps in the garden when we first moved in - one we called Sutton Hoo it was so mounded- and we kept telling anyone that asked that they were people who'd come to the house and not liked the cooking, or similar.
They're flattened out now mostly - so we can't use that joke anymore, unfortunately
Welcome Ian, I'm a bit like you, I'm a good 10 years older than you, but only recently, since moving here 4 years ago, have become gardening obsessed. My OH is always giving out about me moving wrongly place plants around, as my knowledge is quite basic. I too have learned enormously from this forum, I find it's great to get real advice from real people who love gardening. It's also a great place to see and hear about plants you might not find in the run-of-the-mill garden centres, and as for the pictures of peoples gardens, wonderful. It's so nice to be in the company of people who are so willing to give their advice freely, as was said above, at least our time consuming hobby keeps us at home, otherwise it could be the cause of disharmony.
