Pears on apple tree!

hi,

this may be a very silly question and I apologise for even asking it but we have several old apple trees in the garden and this year we have normal apples and what look like pears! I am sure these are some form of "mutated" apples but has anyone seen this before?imageimage

Has a graft ever been made in these trees? Because that is definately pear on a pear tree.

If you follow the pear branch down it should come from the bottom of the tree.

Do tell us what they're like to eat when they ripen.  They look like Conference.
